Fire

At a time where my country is absolutely "flooded" with fires, and my generation sees a lot of our green areas disappear (I will not even start the discussion on the firestarters...), it is with great grief that I see the fires in Paris.
The reason why I bring this up in my blog is just to mentin the other bad thing that is going on in Portugal right now, Pessimism!!
We are always comparing ourselves to the "civilized" countries, nonetheless, this tragedies also happen there. We just have to learn from our mistakes and not making them again.
The thing is, we just like to be the poor old judas' ass forgetten country in the corner of europe, instead of looking at our strenghts. I really think a SWOT analysis on the country, its people and mentality should be endeavoured.
Just a raging post today sorry for that.

take care

Nuno

P.S. thank u BBC for the pic of a fire in Portugal

Ogilvy

I am nowadays reading the "Confessions of an advertising man" by David Ogilvy, the founder of what is now one of the best known agencies in the world. It is very funny to read it, specially when you consider it was written in the sixties and that a lot still applies to our days. And to see that in some points, in my country we are only starting to look at them now. It is very interesting for me to read also, because it shows that a lot of what I have learned (achademically or empirically) is in fact true and based on facts. This is another thing I like about the book. Ogilvy focus a lot on facts and like myself was a professional salesperson before starting in the advertising world. I would very much apreciate to someday be in the communication business as hard or even harder then he was. Nevertheless, there are a lot of points which I of course disagree with Master Ogilvy, but still, it is something worth being read.
I am beggining to understand that for now, I am only able to read biographies or books somehow biographical, at the same time, I am reading President Clinton's Biography, but this one I will only read it by the time I am 30.
That's all for today, take care

P.S. Wow 2 posts in just 2 days, new record broken :DD

Summer

As I write this lines I am sitting on the train coming from summer vacation. I love long vacations for several reasons. Not only I can relax and enjoy some time off, but I can also start thinking to the future. In fact, I aways take to my advantage the next few days after summer holidays to reorganize and rearrange some points that were not working properly previously. One of these points is my blog :D. I really hope I will be able to keep it update at a regular pace so that all of you (I know for a fact that just 3 people including myself read it :p) can follow the fabulous life of Mr. Silva. My vacation were the longest I can remember for quite sometime (2 full weeks), and even though from time to time I had to pick up the phone and "get down", business didn't interrupt me that much. I got together with people I only see in the summer, met new people, got to know better some that I did not know that good. And partied quite good. All of this spiced up with a visit to the beach everyday, which is quite a deed for myself I must admit. All in all I really enjoyed it. Now it is time to move on and start working as I speak in order to get business running and make money that, as you can for sure imagine is running veeeery low in my pockets by this time. Thank you for reading (the 2 of you still out there), see u (as Kenny Wayne Shepperd says) "Somewhere, someway, someday"
